About Us
Essex Woodlife is a brand new Oak Flooring and Furniture showroom in the busy High Street of Billericay. The origins of our business go back over 16 years when we started manufacturing our own bespoke range of flooring to Architect and Designers in our small factory in North London by our own craftsmen using old fashioned traditional techniques.
Offering floors that were once only available to the industry, we opened our first showroom named “Oak Artisans” in affluent Kensington, West London, now these same, quality oak floors are offered direct to the home owner at great prices. Our Kensington showroom has grown from strength the strength enabling us to be one of the leading high flooring companies in London.
In 2023 Essex Woodlife opened its doors to the amazing people of Billericay and its surrounding areas really need a very good quality bespoke flooring and furniture showroom where they can go and consult with one of the friendly team members and help create the ideal flooring or furniture piece that they have struggled to find where it will be made exactly to their exacting requirements just down the road in Essex.
All of the floors presented by Essex Woodlife are completely finished by hand, the old fashioned way in our factory in rural Essex. The Oak is all machined in a small selection of mills within Eastern Europe using only European Oak, then brought over land as unfinished Oak to our own bespoke factory nestled amongst the most beautiful rolling countryside in Essex.
All of our floors are hand-finished using traditional techniques such as tumbling, fuming, burning, back scraping, band-sawing, pasting, washing, bleaching etc... It’s the only way to achieve a truly hand finished floor.
By producing our floors using these methods, rather than loveless techniques adopted by large factories where timber is quickly finished using UV light and conveyer belts, we are able to apply care and attention to every piece of Oak, ensuring our floors are as natural and as strong as possible.
Essex Woodlife believe that a truly hand finished, bespoke floor can be offered direct to the homeowner and doesn’t have to cost the earth.
